Our Fabrics, Our Standards: Italian Fabric Mill
Beautiful prints, printed with care.
A beautiful print should feel as good as it looks; on your skin and on the planet. That is why we work with our technologically advanced Italian fabric mill specializing in water-free digital pigment printing for cotton, linen and viscose. Here is what that means, and the standards behind it.
The Water-Free Difference
Traditional printing relies on steaming and washing to fix colour. Our Italian mill’s digital pigment process skips both. High heat sets the print instead, which means far less water and no harsh wash-off stage. Same vivid colour, lighter footprint.
Viscose, Thoughtfully Sourced
Our viscose from the mill is sustainably sourced from certified renewable wood sources. It has the fluid drape and soft sheen viscose is loved for, with a more considered start in life.
Certified, Layer by Layer
Think of the mill’s credentials as three layers of reassurance:
1. What goes in: chemical safety
Bluesign® System Partner (since 2020): monitors inputs from the very start, so hazardous substances are kept out before production begins.
ZDHC Roadmap to Zero: works towards zero discharge of hazardous chemicals into local waterways.
ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX®: independently verifies the chemical ingredients in the pigment inks used on our cotton, linen and viscose. It certifies the inks and chemicals rather than the fiber itself, and it is a valuable step towards a finished fabric that meets OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100.
2. What comes out: safe for skin
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100: tested for harmful substances, so fabrics are safe against skin.
Cotton and linen: printed with Class I certified inks, the strictest tier, suitable even for babies and toddlers up to age 3.
Viscose: waterless pigment printing tested to Class II, for fabrics worn directly on the skin.
3. How the mill runs: environmental care
4sustainability®: aligns chemical management with the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List, and supports the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
ISO 14001: certifies the mill's environmental management systems across all of its fabric processing, including viscose. It means the mill actively measures and tracks its energy use, waste, water use and emissions.
A Little Honesty
Certifications belong to the mill, not to us, and we would rather be accurate than flashy.
Sustainability is a journey, and we are glad to have you join us for the ride.
